Lachlan is a first time investor who just bought an off the plan apartment in Gold Coast.
Last year, I decided to take on the challenge of investing in a property for the first time. I was already living at my current apartment but was wanting to purchase a property to add to my investment portfolio. After months of researching for the right place and looking for an area that has what I’m after, I finally settled on an off-the-plan apartment in Gold Coast/Southern Beaches. It has been the best property decision I’ve ever made and here’s why:
The area of Gold Coast boasts spectacular beaches and long stretches of sandy shores along the wide coastline. It is internationally known as a prominent holiday destination with heritage sites and for being a surfing haven that brings in many tourists and local visitors. A few of the surrounding suburbs are Palm Beach, Mermaid Beach, Miami Beach and Burleigh Heads.
There is never a dull moment at Gold Coast with a range of outdoor recreation under the sunshine and trendy spots to check out. I love being next door to beautiful parks, going for a surf or just relaxing by the water. The Burleigh Heads National Park shows off lovely views and Palm Beach is popular for its surfing waves. In my downtime, I like visiting the Miami Farmers Market and exploring the stores by the waterfront at the Oasis Shopping Centre. I also have a selection of cafes and restaurants to choose from. I order tasty dishes with friends from the Etsu Izakaya Restaurant at Mermaid Beach or from the Willow Dining Restaurant at Burleigh Heads. When it comes to nightlife, there are countless fun and upscale venues by Casino Drive and Surf Parade at Broadbeach.
With its upbeat lifestyle and natural features, families, couples, retirees and beach lovers have happily embraced the Gold Coast as their home. The Australian Bureau of Statistics have calculated the entire population to have around 650 000 people. The median age is 39 years old and the most common age group is between 30 to 35 years old. There are over 172 000 families and close to 277 000 private dwellings established with more expected to be built.

You will be able to easily find several public transport options within the area to service your commute. The Varsity Lakes Station is around 9 km away and takes passengers along the Gold Coast Line. There are multiple buses all around the vicinity with stops conveniently located on nearly every street and right by the beach.
Those who are driving are able to utilise the Pacific Motorway or the Gold Coast Highway which links them to major cities and roads. You won’t have to worry about lengthy journey times as the area is well-serviced by various public transport choices and cycling paths.
