Location Demographics

The shining suburb of Palm Beach boasts spectacular beaches and long stretches of sandy shores along the wide coastline. Belonging to the state of Queensland, it can be found 19kms south from Gold Coast’s busy Central Business District and nestled between the Tallebudgera Creek and the Currumbin Creek. Apart from being known for its surfing waves and having the whitest sand, Palm Beach has also been highly recognised as one of the cleanest beaches in the state. It was voted thrice by the Keep Australia Beautiful Council.

Being well loved for its peaceful nature and lovely amenities, the community has welcomed families, beach lovers, retirees, singles and holiday visitors to a laid-back living environment. Currently, the population is made up of close to 16 400 residents and around 4 300 families. The Australian Bureau of Statistics has also estimated 8 400 private dwellings with the number expected to grow further. The median age is 39 years old with the majority of residents falling in the 30 to 34-year-old age group.

Travel & Infrastructure

You will be able to easily find several public transport options within the area to service your commute. The Varsity Lakes Station is around 9kms away and takes passengers along the Gold Coast Line. There are multiple buses all around the vicinity with stops conveniently located on nearly every avenue and right by the beach. Those who are driving are able to utilise the Pacific Motorway or the Gold Coast Highway which links them to major cities and roads. 

Locals are able to look forward to exciting new additions with the City of Gold Coast delivering the Palm Beach Aquatic and Community Centre Redevelopment project. Scheduled from May 2022 to early 2024, they are aiming to transform the Palm Beach Aquatic Centre into a revitalised and contemporary destination to meet the present needs and future demands. Planning will also include new inclusions and facilities such as indoor and outdoor pools, an improved fitness centre, a community centre, a cafe and integrated landscape with terraces and lawns.

Situated next to a number of businesses, stores and brands, Palm Beach ensures shoppers have access to all of their retail needs. At Fifth Avenue, the Pavilions Palm Beach Shopping Centre brings casual eateries, an alfresco dining precinct, a wellness hub and supermarkets for your weekly necessities. The Lakeside Supermarket and 8th Avenue Plaza are also both within walking distance and have health and beauty services, shops and all types of cuisines. There is no shortage of cafes, grab a coffee on the beach at Jeffersons Coffee Nook or at Sisterhood Coffee with brunch choices. Having a deck overlooking the beachside, the Palm Beach Surf Club is a popular hangout spot and serves delicious bistro meals. You can also have a tasty dinner and drinks at The Palm Beach Hotel or at The Hood.


Schools & Recreation

Families are able to flourish with a variety of schools nearby looking after students at every stage of their learning journey. The Palm Beach State School is less than 2kms away and caters towards those in primary school. Meanwhile, secondary students can attend the Palm Beach Currumbin State High School just down the road or the Elanora High School. To add, the C&K Palm Beach Community Kindergarten is on Lind Avenue for children in preschool. All ages can build up extracurricular skills at Kelita Creative Art School, Arakan Martial Arts School, Kyokushin Karate School or take painting lessons at Pinot & Picasso. Further study is also available with the La Mode College offering fashion design courses and the Southern Cross University Gold Coast Campus under 8kms by car.

At Palm Beach, you’ll have the perfect blend of a relaxed lifestyle and exciting outdoor spaces. Bask in the sunshine and warm weather at the beachfront or bring the family along for a fun day of swimming, fishing or surfing. With several parks and reserves, there are plenty of facilities for picnics and BBQs where everybody can get together. Both well known tourist attractions, the Palm Beach Parklands has a pirate playground and an off-leash beach where you can bring along your pets while Laguna Park displays lakeside views and a large playground. Get active with a game at the tennis courts and basketball courts next door to the Lions Park. Held every Saturday morning, come along to the Palm Beach Farmers’ Market where you can explore fresh produce stalls, sustainable products and live local music.
