Location Demographics

Kurraba Point is a delightful harbourside suburb that can be found around 6 km north from Sydney’s bustling Central Business District. Located on the Lower North Shore of Sydney, it is filled with famous landmarks and heritage-listed properties. To name a few, the Kurraba House, Nutcote House and Hollowforth House are all regarded for their unique architecture. During the early 1800s, the place was called ‘Alfred Thrupp’s Farm’ or ‘Thrupp’s Acres’ after Lieutenant Alfred Thrupp got the land as a gift. The area originally included part of the suburb of Neutral Bay and was formally gazetted as its very own suburb in June 2010. It is presently known for its stunning views of the Sydney Harbour. 

Combining a peaceful lifestyle with city conveniences, families, professionals and downsizers have happily joined the neighbourhood at Kurraba Point. The Australian Bureau of Statistics have calculated 1 400 residents with the population continuously growing. There are close to 400 families and the median age is 43 years old. Most of the people fall in between the 30 to 35-year-old age demographic   and private dwellings have reached over 800 established properties.

Travel & Infrastructure

Surrounded by various public transport options, commuters at Kurraba Point are well looked after. Regular ferry services take passengers from Kurraba Point Wharf to Circular Quay and Darling Harbour. Both under 3 km away, the Milsons Point Railway Station and the North Sydney Railway Station have trains following the Northern Line and the North Shore and Western Line. You can also catch the bus with a few stops on Wycombe Road and Military Road. Drivers are directly linked to the Warringah Freeway for smooth journeys. 

The North Sydney City Council have released a Community Strategic Plan to carry out the North Sydney Vision 2040. It is framed around the guiding principles of sustainability, inclusivity and integrity that underpin all directions and desired outcomes. Putting together five strategic directions, the council will focus on the living environment, the built infrastructure, having an innovative city, promoting social vitality and bringing quality civic leadership. Major developments will involve following green initiatives, enhancing public domains and village streetscapes, improving urban design and accessibility, supporting diverse range of creative events and encouraging local feedback and engagement.

You’ll be able to freely choose from an assortment of retailers to satisfy all of your shopping needs. The Greenwood Plaza is just a 2 km drive and has fashion and homeware brands, supermarkets and beauty services. For more, the Bridgepoint Shopping Centre provides gift shops and medical services while the Northbridge Plaza has over 40 stores and casual eateries. Packed with cafes and international restaurants, dine out with friends and taste delicious cuisine. The Thelma & Louise Cafe is right around the corner and perfect for an outdoor brunch. Organise a dinner with friends at the Jicca Dining Restaurant which is a Japanese and Italian seafood bistro or try the appetising contemporary menu at Henry's Neutral Bay Restaurant. Schools & Recreation

At Kurraba Point, there are a handful of schools where students of all ages are able to attend. Both less than a 3 km trip, the Neutral Bay Public School and the North Sydney Public School take care of children in primary year levels. Private education for prep to senior school is also available at Redlands School and at Shore School. Younger ones are able to join the Neutral Bay Kindergarten or the KU Mosman Community Preschool. On the other hand, those in higher education can enrol at the Australian Catholic University North Sydney Campus or at the Southern Cross University. 

Having an abundance of natural features and open spaces, Kurraba Point is a great place that accommodates all! The Kurraba Reserve showcases a large foreshore area, waterside views and lush greenery. Right next door, visit the Kurraba Point Community Garden or take in the amazing sights at Hodgsons Lookout Park. Just a short walk, spend the day relaxing on the shore or cooling off in the water at Hayes Street Beach. You may also want to go for a swim at the Maccallum Pool overlooking the harbour. Don’t miss checking out the Cremorne Reserve with a park, playground, lighthouse and walkways along the coast.
