From 6 PM Sunday the 2nd of August, Stage 4 restrictions came into effect for Metropolitan Melbourne. The restrictions will be imposed for the next six weeks. Here’s what we know so far.
What we do know is that from 11:59 PM Wednesday 5 August, residential projects under three-storeys will only be allowed to have five workers on-site at a time, including supervisors.
Projects will still be allowed to go ahead, however, the new restrictions may slow down progress over the next six weeks.
A post on Premier Daniel Andrews’ Facebook page listed “property and real estate” among businesses that will close for at least six weeks from 11.59 pm Wednesday 5 August, with “online inspections and auctions permitted”.
Currently, it’s unclear whether one on one inspections will still go ahead, with new rules to be announced by Premier Daniel Andrews later this week.
In regional Victoria, currently under Stage 3 Restrictions, one on one home inspections are permitted by appointment only and social distancing rules and wearing a mask must be followed.
Developments of apartment buildings
Developers of apartment buildings higher than three-storeys are required to reduce their normal workforce to no more than 25%.
Employers must ensure workers:
Are assigned to one site only
There should be no blending of shifts.
Each site must have a COVID safe plan.
Further clarification regarding rules that affect the real estate, building and construction industry are still to be announced and will be published here as they come to light.
