To put simply, what does rentvesting mean to you?

How did you get into rentvesting?

I wanted to buy a property to live in but I found it really difficult to find something that I could afford as a person on a single income and in an area that I wanted. As my options were quite limited, I didn’t really know where to go from there.

After I contacted iBuyNew, I spoke to one of the consultants and he helped me understand what my property requirements were. We discussed my aspirations and he helped me understand that through rentvesting, I could take smaller steps to the goal of owning my dream home later down the track.

Rentvesting was something that I had no idea about but with the iBuyNew consultant’s help, I was able to be introduced to the concept. I was then given advice on where the best locations would be to rentvest.

Why should others consider rentvesting?

Because I chose to rentvest, it means I don’t need to save for a deposit for 10 years to afford something and I don’t miss out on any of the good deals.

Now that it wasn’t my dream home, it really took the emotions out of all the decisions I needed to make in regards to buying a house such as the colour schemes and floorplans.

I was able to speak with the consultant who gave me tips and advice on different upgrades and additions to help put myself out there as a landlord and attract the best renters. Some of the small upgrades that I included were high ceilings and stone bench tops. We just gave the place a little edge to all the other rentals that would be on the market at the same time as mine.

What kind of investment property did you end up buying?

I ended up buying a house and land package in regional Victoria as there was a lot of development and growth in that area.

He advised me on what were my best options and he provided me with a couple of different choices. Although it was up to me to make my own decision in the end, it was great that he was able to present the different opportunities that I could go for.
