Location Demographics

A part of the Northern Sydney region, the charming suburb of Macquarie Park brings you multiple natural reserves and convenient amenities all in one place. It can be found 17kms north-west from Sydney’s prominent Central Business District and belongs to the City of Ryde. The town was originally part of the suburb of North Ryde and became its very own suburb in February 1999. It is known as the northern suburbs’ centre for major commercial and retail districts.

Having a diverse community with easy access to the city, students, families with children, singles and professionals are drawn to the relaxed suburban lifestyle and setting. Presently, the growing population has close to 11 100 people with most belonging in the 30 to 35-year-old age group.  The Australian Bureau of Statistics has also estimated around 6 100 private dwellings and over 2 700 families living within the area. The current median age is 31 years old.

 

Travel & Infrastructure

Commuters are well looked after with regular public transport services all around the neighbourhood. Operated by Metro Trains Sydney, the Macquarie Park Railway Station is right at the town centre and takes passengers along the Metro North West Line. There are also plenty of buses frequently running with stops across Waterloo Road, Herring Road and Epping Road. Those travelling by car are able to be quickly connected to the M2 Motorway leading on to other highways. 

After adhering to public feedback and comments, the New South Wales Government has brought forward the Macquarie Park Place Strategy which is a 20-year plan and project. Acknowledging that Macquarie Park is an important economic and employment powerhouse of Sydney’s North District, the developments aim to support job growth, attract businesses and visitors, provide new homes, improve public transport, have a network of parks and additional walking and cycling paths.

When it comes to your shopping wants and needs, you’ll be surrounded by an array of international and Australian brands. The Macquarie Centre is an expansive shopping complex and has over 360 stores with boutiques, eateries and entertainment options. Only 2kms away, Lachlan’s Square Village has a supermarket and health and beauty services. There are cafes spread out everywhere with a few on Talavera Road where you can grab a cup of coffee and tasty meals. There are several early kindergartens and preschools including the Guardian Childcare & Education Macquarie Park, the Macquarie Early Learning Centre, the Macquarie Park Montessori Academy Child Care Centre and more. The Truscott Street Public School and the Kent Road Public School look after primary students while those in high school are within walking distance of Ryde Secondary College. Furthermore, the renowned Macquarie University has its own train station and a range of higher education courses to study. 

With welcoming open spaces and recreational attractions, there's a whole lot to discover at Macquarie Park. By the riverside, have a relaxing stroll going through the walking tracks at Lane Cove National Park or have a get together at the Tunks Hill Picnic Area. Tuckwell Park and Fontenoy Park are both less than 2kms away and have vast fields with playgrounds. Bring the family for some skating fun at the Macquarie Ice Rink or go for a game of bowling. Put your thinking to the test at the Strike Escape Rooms or at the Scram Escape Rooms with friends. Visit Eden Gardens and wander through the colourful displays filled with fruit and flowers for all seasons or join in the informative horticultural workshops and craft events. To add, Christie Park is just a stone’s throw away and has sports fields and facilities while the North Ryde Golf Club has a popular course with eye-catching water features.
