Suburb Property Profile: Applecross, WA 6153

The flourishing suburb of Applecross is set against the scenic Swan riverside and surrounded by vast beaches. It is situated around 10kms south of the heart of Perth’s Central Business District. The neighbourhood is known for it's Jacaranda trees which bloom during the spring season and for hosting the annual festival. There are also a few historical landmarks such as the Raffles Hotel, Canning Bridge and Point Heathcote.

Local Demographics

The area has conveniently combined a bustling urban environment with a relaxed suburban setting. Belonging to the City of Melville, there are several types of residents who call Applecross home including families, singles and professionals. The Australian Bureau of Statistics has calculated the population to reach nearly 7 000 people with the median age being 43 years old. There are about 3 100 established properties with most of them being detached housing and townhouses.

Travel & Infrastructure

For passengers relying on public transport, there are a variety of options available to service short trips and lengthy commutes. The Canning Bridge Train Station is less than 3kms from the town centre and follows the Transperth Mandurah line. Meanwhile, there is no shortage of buses with a bunch of stops along Canning Highway and Kintail Road. The Kwinana Freeway is easily accessible allowing a smooth trip for drivers heading towards the inner city.

Families won’t need to go far with a selection of stores and brands to choose from within the vicinity. Just under 2kms, Riseley Square provides various services, supermarkets and dining options. There are also a number of cuisines to check out on Ardross Street and a handful of cafes scattered around the town. The Westfield Booragoon Shopping Centre brings an assortment of retail outlets and restaurants around 3kms away.

Schools & Recreation

Students can quickly settle in with a broad range of schools right outside their doorstep. The Applecross Primary School and Village Kindergarten are both within walking distance while the Senior High School is about a 3km drive. There are more learning opportunities with the Children’s School of Contemporary Art and Forte School of Music also nearby. Alternatively, the University of Western Australia offers multiple courses and is around 13kms by car.

With an abundance of waterfront views and outdoor parks, there’s plenty of places to visit in Applecross. The Heathcote Reserve welcomes everyone to the spacious Pirate Playground and the Heath Ledger Memorial Park. You can spend the day viewing artworks at the Heathcote Museum and Gallery or exploring the Perth Makers Market. On the other hand, the Applecross Jetty is the perfect spot to get active by going for a jog or stroll. There is no dull moment at Tompkins Park where the family can enjoy a barbecue with friends and bring the pets for a walk.
