Those living in the east of Melbourne, around Ringwood are set to benefit from the $575 million expansion plan which will transform the Eastland Shopping Centre into one of Melbourne’s most exciting urban shopping, leisure and entertainment destinations, whilst Ringwood will also receive a new lease of life.
The new shopping centre is set to double in size to 127,000 square metres and will incorporate world-class shopping, dining, leisure and entertainment options, as well as bringing new jobs and opportunities to the area.
Major retail stores such as David Jones, as well as mini-majors are just some of the new 150 specialty stores that will be calling Eastland home, featuring both iconic national and international brands.
Thinc, appointed by QIC Global Real Estate are project managing the new development who have a high level of experience project managing across the health, infrastructure, private, social infrastructure and resources sectors.
This expansion is expected to regenerate Ringwood, bringing new community facilities to the area, with Ringwood benefitting from a new town square, landscaped gardens and pedestrian pathways to identify this as the new heart of the suburb. There will also be a new council library and cultural centre for the whole community to enjoy.
The rail/bus interchange will also link to the town square for easier commutes and this new shopping centre will attract shoppers from across the region, encouraging growth and further investment to this region.
Completion of the final project is expected by mid 2016, with stage one due to open in time for Christmas 2015.
