Phoenix Towers set to become the world’s next tallest tower
There has been a constant battle throughout the world to build the tallest tower and plans for the world’s next tallest tower have just been revealed. This time it’s the capital of Hubei province in central China that takes centre stage with its futuristic Phoenix Towers development.
Designed by Chetwoods Architects, a UK-based company, in partnership with HuaYan Group, the Phoenix Towers will consist of two towers, with the largest tower rising to the extraordinary height of one kilometre.
This tower, Feng will boast 100 floors for residential, retail and office space, whilst the smaller tower Huang will hold the world’s tallest garden. They will be constructed on an island in a lake that covers a massive 7ha site.
A significant amount of thought and detail has gone into the design, where the pink towers represent a phoenix bird, whilst the large space-like globes will contain celestial-themed restaurants, skywalks and even the world’s tallest kaleidoscope that is powered by a wind turbine.
Not only are these towers set to become the world’s tallest, but efforts have been made to incorporate various green energy technologies including technology to aerate and filter the water as well as pollution-absorbing surfaces to filter the city’s air, whilst biomass boilers will be used for waste recycling.
The Phoenix Towers are expected to be completed by 2017/2018 if government approval is given. The world can only wait and see if these towers become the next big thing.
