Lutwyche City refurbishment good for property buyers

There’s great news for buyers of new apartments in Lutwyche with a proposed refurbishment for the Lutwyche City Shopping Centre on the cards.

A development application has now been submitted to refurbish the Lutwyche City shopping centre. Built in 1974, this will be the shopping centre’s first major refurbishment. Abacus Property Group and Zenonos Group, who bought the shopping centre back in 2015 for $65 million are the companies behind this proposal.

If the development application is approved, the proposed refurbishment will include the following:
  • A new 3,400sqm Woolworths supermarket
  • Extension to exterior building footprint
  • Internal re-orientation of tenancies
  • A new child care centre, heath care services, retail tenancies and office space
  • New delivery and loading facilities
  • Public realm improvements and landscaping
  • Centre refurbishment and improved facade presentation
The refurbishment will also include the development of a number of tenancies which overlook Chalk Street and incorporate a long balcony running parallel to Chalk Street.

The Lutwyche City shopping centre will remain four storeys high and according to Urbis, “The enhancements will encourage pedestrian activity, with the overall presentation of the centre is significantly improved through provision of additional tenancies open to frontages”.

This exciting refurbishment will have plenty of benefits for nearby residents, and will be in high demand due to many new off the plan apartment developments under construction or newly completed close by, helping to create strong tenant demand both now and moving forwards. Situated in the heart of Lutwyche, this centre is the main local shopping centre for everyday convenience serving local residents.
